After two days of stunning sunshine, I awoke to the sound of rain pattering on the roof. Within two hours it was patchy sunlight was trying to break its way through. With that sunlight came a moment of clarity, that I seek the feeling of hygge in every day, if only I capture it for a minute or two – my ultimate goal is a feeling of hygge. If you don’t know what it is – Google it!! Let me know what resonates with you about this feeling.

For me, I have a clear understanding of what each season brings for me and how I can achieve these moments.

· In summer, it is the diving into crisp ocean water, breaking through the surface, my breath hitched by aforementioned crisp water. Bike riding on the warmer days, knowing a swim waits at the other end.

· Autumn brings for me the sheer joy and anticipation of colour changing leaves – not a lot of that here in Espy, but I can imagine it. It’s the warm days, followed by the cooling of the afternoon air and the shortening days.

· Winter, the endless cups of tea, snuggling under blankets, hot water bottles, flannelette pj’s and cozy and thick Nordic printed socks. Extremely short days, and the guiltless feeling of curling up with a book and reading for a solid hour, knowing that the weather is too disgusting to do anything outside anyway. Oh, and don’t forget the wood fires.

· Spring, the wildflowers, the promise of warmer days on the way, and the slow progress towards outside living again.

Take a moment, take a deep breath, what do you strive for each day?
