A Review.
The ultimate novel for hygge lovers!! The tone was set early on for this feel-good story thanks to Christensen’s strong ability to describe each scene in fine detail allowing readers the opportunity to visualise the setting without too much effort. Drawn in from the title and cover graphics, the positives continued on with a well-developed story line which did not let me down. I found the characters to be lovable, warm and enticing with a strong pull to keep turning pages to find out more.
My notable favourite character was Emil for several reasons which include his introductory lessons into hygge. The other house guests, Bo, Florence and Simon benefit from these lessons along the way and ensure a story that is captivating and comforting. Each character had a role to play with differing personalities, working together to balance out each other’s quirks. Reading this novel re-established my love of all things hygge and the associated feelings that hygge brings.
The novel itself was broken up into parts clearly identifying the location in which the story would take place, I enjoyed how the lives of the characters entwined despite distance being placed between them. If you love reading a story with happy ending, this is one for you.
I would read further novels by Christensen, however, with the searches that I have tried online I have failed to find any others.
