Snowed in for Christmas by Sarah Morgan

A REVIEW *****

A beautiful story best read when curled up under a favourite snuggly blanket with a mug of hot chocolate in hand. A book that is sure to warm the soul.  Snowed in for Christmas covers it all – small town charm – check, close knit family – check, and my favourite, love.  New love, old love, unexpected love, this book covers it all.

Snowed in for Christmas follows the Miller family, three adult children, two parents and a live-in grandmother all under the one roof nestled amongst the quintessential Christmas backdrop of the Scottish Highlands.  Although the children have all spread their wings and flown the coop, when the festive season arrives, they descend upon the family home once more.  Except this Christmas was to be like no other.

As the title suggests, a large volume of snow surrounds the house, leaving the home entirely secluded with no vehicle access in or out.  Out of all the characters who come to life when housebound, Nana Jean was my favourite.  She embraced everyone warmly and had a knack for putting everyone at ease, along with a cheeky habit of speaking her mind and blaming it on her age.  Out of the three siblings, I most related to Clem and her want of a slower paced life.  Alice and Ross led fast paced, high profile lives, the absolute opposite of their childhood hometown.  For the most part, character interactions were comical, warm and comparable to a Hallmark Christmas movie.

From the minute I saw the beautiful front cover, I knew it had to make its way to my bookshelf, I’m so glad that it did.  What’s more exciting is that Sarah Morgan has plenty of other titles to choose from, I think I’ll continue with One more for Christmas or The Christmas Escape.
