Lessons learnt about content creation.
When determining what I wanted to include on a blog site I had a rough idea of what I wanted to write about. All things books, my tattoos, any travels that I take, my approach to life through my vegan diet, daily yoga practice and general want to treat our Mother Earth kindly.
Fast forward a few months, and the call to begin a Facebook page. My biggest mistake thus far has been not narrowing down my content. I have tried to look at themed days for Monday through Sunday, unfortunately, I didn’t think to connect these to what I already write about on my blog page, so that’s another 5 content areas that I needed creative juices for. Easy to write, right? WRONG!!!
So very wrong!!! In trying to write for everyone and looking at everyone else's content to guide my own, I lost my way. Back to the drawing board. Wipe the slate clean, whichever cliché you want to use. It's time to go back to writing for me and the right people will want to read and follow.
There is a lot that I don’t know, but here is what I DO know:
I love writing book reviews and am finding my own voice for these – They stay!! No set day given as I can’t read a book a week unfortunately. - What I've read Wednesdays.
I love writing about my tattoos, once again this is not weekly event – but I can write about my tattoos in general and from different angles, I am extremely passionate about these so the extent I can write about these is endless. This can have a day on my Facebook page.
I love embracing my want to treat Mother Earth kindly, I do this in several ways and want to DO MORE! This will also incorporate my love of yoga, Pilates, crystals etc. as they have a strong connection towards Mother Earth. These can have a day on my page. - Mother Earth Mondays.
I love exploring recipes and trying new meals which I am drawn to, I am not a high-end diner, rather, I aim for a wholesome and content feeling, both in process and tastiness – Tasty Tuesdays have earnt their place.
I love capturing my travels, though few and far between, these will have their time and place, just not regularly, with a goal of Travel Time Thursdays.
Submitting my novels to publishing houses is a journey that I would love to capture as I go along. As this is a gruelling process, there is plenty of content here. - Sunday Submits.
The beach and Instagram will keep their place on -Salty Saturdays.
TGIF - Must Stay!
My takeaway lesson here is to stay true to yourself, don’t try to be someone else. In the words of
Dr. Seuss…
“Today you are You
That is truer than true.
There is no one alive
Who is youer than You.”
