Blogging - approach with caution

Updated: Feb 14, 2022

The last month has been a whirlwind of designing a website/blog, learning as I go, pressing buttons and hoping for the best, teamed with making mistake after mistake. I headed into the adventure somewhat blind, holding my end goal firmly in my sights and knew that it was going to be a long road to travel.

I failed to do a great deal of research into which was the best site to use, and to be honest, I still don't have a clue. I chose WIX and am making the most out of it in the best way that I can, by fumbling my way through it all while holding my tongue in what I hope is the right direction while I press the Publish button each time.

What I do know is that I want to be a writer, publish books and bring some flexibility into my life. Easy right. What I didn't take into account was the extreme amounts of screen time it would take for me to create something I am semi - happy with. I am never fully content with anything that I create on here, perhaps my need for approval (which is only evident through how many hearts get ticked or watching the view counter increase) coming out in my personality. Today though, I had a mental brain fart - who cares if no one reads any of this. Who cares if no-one presses the heart button. This is my journey and my place to keep working on my writing skills and as a extra bonus, I get to work on my typing skills and increase my speed so that perhaps my hands have some sort of hope of keeping up with my brain.

And then I go and read that it can take a good 6 months for a blog to take off, sheesh so not only is this venture going to take increased time on the computer, which by the way, I only like using for writing and nothing else, it's now going to take my patience. FYI - I really don't have a great deal of that stuff. So not only am I missing out on sunshine and fresh air while I am kicked back on my bed adding yet another blog. I am going to have to wait. Just wait. And see what happens. This approach may lead somewhere, it may lead no where.

But for an normal technology avoider, to complete what I have, in the time that it has taken - I'm pretty frickin stoked. All I can hope is that as each day goes by, my patience will increase alongside my 'zero f#%ks' counter because as long as I am giving it my all, that's all I can ask of myself. So if you are someone just starting out in the world of blog writing, good luck, I hope you know more of the basics than me.
